One of the fun things we do in The Gulf Boys, is engage in plenty of idle chatter about songs, bands, and movies.

Well, there was the one time we engaged in a highbrow conversation about parsing sentences, but that’s another story…

Movies, we’re always trading lines back and forth and gakking on and on about movies. Which got me to thinking about all “those guys” me and my brother in law used to crack up about, because we never could figure out who they were!

Now, thanks to websites like www.imdb.com, these greats no longer toil in anonymity.

Like the guy in The Longest Yard (Not the one with Adam Sandler, who BTW stocks his films with plenty of “those guys”) who played the mean prison guard.

Yup, him. You’ve seen him in so many movies, TV shows and he’s usually a bad guy or a flawed cop because he’s got that whole blue-eyed steely gaze thing going on. Yup, that’s him, Ed Lauter. He even used to be a standup comedian!

Imagine not laughing at ol’ Ed, he’d probably leap off the stage and kick your ass. Also, does this guy ever age? He’s looked the same since the 70’s!

How about the guy who played Patty Duke’s father? Now I’m dating myself (carbon dating to be exact!) William Schallert is his

name and yes, you’ve seen him in at least 400,000 TV shows, including My Name Is Earl. This guy was born in 1922, so that would make him 84 and he’s still cranking it out.

Guess that makes all of us in TGB pretty young…

One more, how ‘bout Clint Eastwood’s pal, Geoffry Lewis? No? Juliette Lewis’ dad? Still no?

There’s so many more of these guys (and gals), we love ‘em, but we don’t know who they are. Now, with IMDB and other sites, we can find out just who the heck they are!

Finally, the guy you all have seen in such movies as Heat and The Bubble Boy, the guy you all know when you need a badass Hispanic, Danny Trejo!
